Beginners Do Not Lift Enough Weight to Get Stronger

A new study by exercise physiology professor Stephen Glass, of Grand Valley State University in Michigan, reveals that novice weight lifters do not lift enough weight to improve strength and health. Most lift less than the 60% of maximum needed to change body composition.



This is exactly why novice weight trainers need to work with a personal trainer when starting a new fitness program. Novice trainers need good support to learn proper form and to learn that they can push themselves to lift heavier weights than they might imagine possible.
